About the Job
Our Database Administrator will be responsible for the management of several SQL Servers and data marts, all data being loaded into the database from external sources, as well as the distribution of that data to various data marts for consumption by end-user applications. Role will include:
• Design and build relational databases, develop strategies for data acquisitions, archival, recovery, and implementation of databases and clean and maintain databases by removing and/or purging old data.
• Create installation scripts to manage the implementation of development databases in production.
• Work with developers on new database applications, tune stored procedures required by applications
• Review and tune databases, indexes, views etc. for meeting processing requirements, reliability and performance.
What is expected of the SQL Server DBA
The selected candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in MIS, CS or Mathematics along with two to five years of related experience and/or training in SQL Server database warehousing and architecture. The client environment includes a mix of SQL Server Administration (7.0/2000/2005), Informatica PowerCenter, Analysis Services (SSAS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and Integration Services (SSIS) so expertise in some or all of these disciplines would be expected. Experience with normalization and migrating between normal forms is a must. The selected DBA must have the ability to initiate corrective action to ensure all database servers meets processing requirements for performance and reliability. Experience in OOAD development is a plus and MCDBA certification is highly desirable.
